Rock Show of the Century

We took the kids to a show at The Vera Project today and it was the sweetest, most adorable, most awesomest event of the century.

It was just like a real adult show but for the kids. The bands were two we had never seen before, The Not It's and The Recess Monkeys. When we got to the venue, we paid for our tickets and they stamped our hands. Harper thought this was very cool.

We found a spot to occupy towards the back. We had a few minutes to spare in which a cute little girl made friends with Laramie and told Harper a secret or two.

Harper found a friend from the neighborhood, Clara, who knew how to work a show. She took Harper to the front where they staked out a spot right in the front of the stage. The lights went down, a collective gasp went out from the parents who immediately tried to make eye contact with their kids, and the show started.

They got the kids jumping and dancing from the very first note. Harper jumped and jumped and jumped some more. Just imagine, a sea of kids, knee-high to a grasshopper, bouncing as one to good music just for them. The first song was even about sharing, Harper's favorite topic of conversation.

Harper loved the tutus on the female band members. She wanted to have her photo taken with one of them. So she did.

Next time we go to see them she will have to wear a pink tutu.

Windham, on the other hand, was not interested. Laramie sat with him out in the lobby for the first band and I sat with him for the 2nd one. He was very busy, hiding in the photo booth, running back and forth, spinning the chairs.

We left the show sweaty and exhausted. Just like a real rock show.
