Finally!

I finally got the second kid seat finished. We are now officially trailer free. Windham is big enough to wear a helmet and sit up in the seat. Harper hopped into the new seat like she was riding a bike…wait, she was. Anyway, you get it. She made the switch like a pro.

We have made 2 trips to the grocery store so far. Today for Thanksgiving provisions. I have decidded I am not driving to the grocery store ever again. Especially with the kids. he easiest way to go is on the bike. Really, it's true.

I met a woman in the store who also has an Xtracyle and was excited about the seat I made. Cool. I love meeting other families who are committed to biking with the kids.

Riding in the Dark

Now that we don't have the extra light from daylight savings, the night comes so quickly these days. It means anywhere we go on the bike after about 3:30pm means some amount of the trip will be in the dark.

Friday night we went to our friend's house in Madrona. We left about 4:45 for a 5:30 invite. And it was dark most of the way. But the kids did great. Harper sang most of the time and didn't even seem to notice the darkness along parts of Lake Washington Blvd.

Riding at night it such a blast.

Ring Around the Rosy (Harper Remix)

After her bath, Harper wanted to put on her Mongolian boots and dance. She is just starting to sing actual songs. This is her first attempt at Ring Around the Rosy.

And then she turns into Godzilla, eager to scale the tallest building…

Feeding Time at the Zoo

The boy loves to eat.

Harper is washing her hands, fyi, with her squash.

Shopping in the Yard

While Windham napped, Harper and I ventured into the yard to harvest some broccoli. Well, I picked and put into the bowl, she just picked and shoveled it into her mouth. The girl does love her vegetables.

Next we delivered some broccoli bits we didn't want to the chickens. That made us feel warm and fuzzy while we stole their eggs. One of our nutty birds still hasn't figured out to lay the egg inside the box. Oh well.

Our booty from the day.

The Dark Side

I finally did it. I signed up for a Facebook account. Laramie succumbed back in October to stay in touch with her friend Heidi. She has had a great time connecting with friends from college and high school. But she is the extrovert.

I am the introvert. Not to sound the asshole (but I will), I am much less inclined to reconnect. That said, it is a great tool to find out what the people from your past lives are up to. I always find it peculiar to think of the friends from years back who don't know I got married. The people I have lost touch with along the way who don't know the joy that are Harper and Windham.

Ok, so the curmudgeon in me has to give it up for Facebook. I am officially addicted.

Halloween: Belated

Harper was not at all interested in wearing her dog costume. We tried several times, for several days up until Halloween. Windham, pissed he doesn't get to eat candy yet, wore his sister's dragon/dinosaur costume from last year.

The new-ish art gallery in Columbia City has an exhibit that is the alphabet in neon. They were taking pictures of the kiddos next to the letters.

Several days after Harper's portrait with her letter, she opened the book Laramie was reading, pointed to the inital cap that was an H, and said "H." She is definitely gifted.

I voted!

Not as exciting as going to the school down the street to vote, but thrilling nonetheless. Now everybody, Obama, Obama, Obama…
